There’s never been a more truer war fought than war of faith, for if people will not fight for what they believe in, what else is there to fight for?
You’ve seen it, and you’ve been there. Once a devoted man fighting for what he believed in, seen and believed a hero… for all the wrong reasons.
But if you’ve had a chance to do it again, would you do it the same?

Follow the story of Eliot Magnus (first name changeable), once a devoted man of faith and a Paladin of his god, deemed a hero.
Yet a hero can be turned into a villain, for all the right reasons when he fought for all the wrong reasons before.

– Act III has experienced a light hiccup during production of Act 4, which meddled with few values. BUT!
– The One has intervened personally, ensuring that this does not affect you. In case it does, you will be automatically prompted a quick reminder so you can re-select your last choices before Act End.
– Do not allow Blight to take hold of you!

Side Note: The Inquisition has delivered numerous reports of their tracking’s to the Sanctum.
And according to their notes, it seems that Paladin’s of The One believe that a PARTICULAR elf would boost their morale in their fight against the Blight. As such, Eliot has dispatched some of the Inquisition’s best to track the said elf down.

Today’s patching spree is all about stability, bug-smashing, and putting an end to the renderer corruption The Blight has been spreading across your systems!

New: Graphics Mode Selector

On first launch (or after resetting Preferences), the game now asks which arcane rendering method you’d like to trust.

Your choices:

• Auto – Let the Sanctum divine the best choice.
• ANGLE – Blessed path for modern GPUs.
• OpenGL 2 (GL2) – For older relics that still endure.
• OpenGL (GL) – Ancient fallback—only if all else fails.

If you’ve encountered black screens, crashes, or strange artifacting, this selector might be your salvation.

Textbox Opacity Purification
Some players reported crashes when adjusting textbox opacity.
Turns out The Blight had its claws in the UI.
We’ve exorcised the issue. The setting now initializes properly and no longer causes chaos.

️ General Cleansing & Safety Rites

Removed lingering renderer code corrupted by the Old Code.

Ensured that all renderer choices are preserved safely. No more overwriting your sacred save files.

✅ This patch should:

• Eliminate crashes caused by incompatible or cursed graphics renderers.
• Resolve opacity-related exceptions haunting the Preferences screen.
• Make startup smoother for all chosen warriors of Elleria.

IMPORTANT:
If you played a previous version, delete your persistent data and reinstall the game to fully purge any lingering corruption.

• Renderer fallback updated to use gl2 and a stable 60 FPS cap.

This improves compatibility for Steam Deck, Linux, and modern graphics cards.
No performance impact for players who weren’t affected.

• Added a shiny new Chapters Selection feature to the main menu!
• Want to relive the Prologue? Done. Jump into Chapter 3 like a maniac? Go for it. Skip the fluff and dive straight into the DLC? Absolutely.
• No more “Help my save broke!”—just pick where you want to go, and off you go like a goddamn time-traveling paladin.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
* Some players seem to be experiencing issues with crashes related to: TypeError: ‘<=’ not supported between instances of ‘NoneType’ and ‘float’
– If you’re one of the players having this isssue, temporary fix is to forcibly set the renderer to gl2 and the frame rate to 60.
Why does it happen? The crash happens only when certain GPU drivers + Ren’Py’s gl3/ANGLE renderer + a specific transform or screen = boom.
