Confusion – Chapter 8 [v0.8]

Overview

Confusion is the story of a transgender girl with a problem.
Alex has few friends, a lot of enemies, and even her foster family disrespects her.
How will she learn to cope?

Should she leave? Should she finish transitioning?
Should she learn to fight back against those who would mean her harm?
Will she ever love or be loved in return? End her Confusion…​

Developer Notes:

• Chapter 8 of a 10 chapter story.
• Features additional new music
• We tried to make the quick menu a bit less intrusive by decreasing the opacity of the buttons. Although you’ve always been able to hide the quick menu, if you accidentally hit the “Q” key, there was no way to bring it back if you didn’t realize what you’d done. The opacity decrease is a temporary fix—we’ll change the menu in the future to be truly hidden, but easily recalled, based on a user preference.
• We’re not satisfied with the state of some of the animations in the game. This is mostly because of the amount of time it takes to modify and re-render animations—as long as an entire day each for some of them. We usually assume it’s more important to release sooner rather than later. The same goes for some of the individual background images. Before we finish the final chapter, we’ll be going back to redo a lot of these to bring them up to the quality level we insist on.
• If you haven’t tried it yet, please consider playing using auto-advance. That’s the way the story was developed and staged! The cinematic nature of the storytelling lends itself well to this type of interaction. You can always click or press space/return to advance if the pauses are too long for your liking.
• Relation patch is new for this version. Patches will always change with subsequent releases. Using older versions won’t break, necessarily (“you’ll see a message stating (Patch outdated!)”) but you won’t see the patches after a certain point until you update to the latest version.
