Idea
WelCUM To The City is a visual novel with some RPG and sandbox features, where you can upgrade your character skills and your decisions affect the world around you. The intention is that this game is not one more linear story game where you just keep clicking and doing repetitive things again and again. The intro was also planned to be interactive and short so it doesn’t get boring.

Adjustments and Bug Fixes

• Translator: the writing box now works like any other text box. Click where you want the cursor, drag to select, double-click to grab a whole tag or the words between two of them, and erase a tag in one keystroke. Tags and variables are colored apart from the words so you can see at a glance what not to touch, and the preview now shows the line exactly as the game shows it, names and colors and all. Accents and symbols also type normally again.
• Bathing Animation: left an option to disable the mechanics of bathing minigame for weakest devices, leaving only simple animation.
• Bug Fix: infinite money and perks can now be switched back off at any time, and no longer break dates.
• Bug Fix: you no longer gets in an infinite loop when seeing your step-sis changing clothes in her room after the bathing content. For now, you just go back to hallway.

• Translator: you can now translate the game from inside the game itself. Open it on the Language menu or by pressing SHIFT+T anywhere, search for any line you want, see the scene it belongs to so you know what it’s about, and rewrite it with the original right below as reference. Everything you write goes straight into the translation files, ready to be sent, and you can even start a brand new language from zero.
• Date System: refined date system mechanics; interface; and dialogues with your stepsis’s. Now, you can better chose paths of fun; romance; or spice, and also kiss your stepsis. For that, make your romance points highest than spice and fun, and above 40%.
  • Food Court: there are food options that you can buy how much you can to boost your date score.
  • Photobooth: different reactions and even the choices on your photo affect the date score results.
• New Scene: bath together with your stepsis. For that, she needs at least 60% lust at the end of a date, and have done the first kiss.

Major Update

• Changing: before P.E. and Aquatics the girls may get changed in the female locker room, and if you walk in at the “wrong” moment, you can see them wearing whatever they happened to be putting on
  • Checking: step through the room in close-up before anything else happens
  • Explanation: apologize, or claim the Student Council sent you, but if no errand actually sent you there, they will catch the lie, and it costs you Council reputation
  • Judgement: each girl makes up her own mind from how close you are, how much she likes you and how modest she is, then the majority decides. Watch their faces turn the moment you answer
  • Consequences: talk your way out and they let it go. Fail, and they take it further, banning you from female locker room for the rest of the day
  • Girls may also no longer be fully dressed while in the middle of changing, anywhere in the game
• Date System: you can now invite your stepsis out to the Shopping and spend time however you like if you have enough time and money for that, the cinema, the food court, a photo together, or trying on clothes. Both of you dress up for the occasion, and the outfits stay unlocked afterwards in the Character Menu. A small panel in the mall shows how romantic, fun and spicy the day has been so far. Fold it away with the button in the corner if you would rather be surprised. The best you score, most points you get with her
• Photo System: at the photo stall in the Shopping Mall you can now make your own photos with your stepsis. The photo you take is kept on your phone as a new picture, personalized as you prefere. Just choose the background color, an overlay to decorate it, your’s expression, and whether the photo is vertical or horizontal
• New Dance Minigame: the dance with your neighbor was rebuilt from scratch to actually follow the music. Arrows now travel from right to left and land on the hit line exactly on the beat, instead of falling at a random pace. Every song was measured and charted to its real tempo, so the notes follow what you are hearing, and the music and the dancing now start together on the first note. The new dance now also have a different version for phones: hold the device upright, the arrows fall from the top through four wide lanes, and you tap the lane to hit its arrow.
  • Right hit: +1 point
  • Perfect hit: +1 additional point for each perfect in a row
  • Miss or wrong arrow: -1 point for each in a row
  • Fair misses: a wrong or mistimed tap counts as only one mistake and no longer charges you for the note it was aimed at, and phantom double-taps on touch screens are ignored
  • Performance perk: leveling Performance widens both timing windows, making the beat easier to catch
  • It was optimized to run smoothly on weak devices, but the old dance is still there for comparison while the new one is being polished. Let me know if you found it better or didn’t help anything.
• Performance Settings: a new section in Settings with switches that actually matter on weak devices: hide the minigame dancers, or swap the animated menu scene for a still image. Phones start with the still menu for smoothness and battery — turn it back on if your device handles it. The menu art was also optimized to use a quarter of the memory, and the game download got a little smaller
• Lighter Game: the game is about 84 MB smaller and might run faster. Sound effects and images were re-encoded to lighter formats, and the color/lighting effects that tint backgrounds by time of day were moved to the GPU, so the game should be smoother on weaker devices
• Save Safety: old saves now pick up new rooms, maps and school data added in future updates, instead of staying stuck with the version they were created in
• Bug Fix: the game could crash whenever a place was shown in the late afternoon, between 16:00 and 19:00, which is exactly when a day out tends to end. Sunset lighting works on every background again

Minor Update 1

• Translations: lines that had lost their translation in past updates were recovered, so they show up again in your language instead of appearing empty. Also, added new lines of Portuguese Translation.
• Bug Fix: minigame Find was trying to get PNG format images, but it was converted to WEBP. Now it works correctly.
• Bug Fix: laundry chores are now correctly counting time during pass of days, so clothes will no longer get stuck infinitelly
• Bug Fix: the Student Council shower repair quest no longer loses your progress and locker room access when a day passes while you are still working on it
• Bug Fix: your stepsis is no longer undressed while talking to your stepmom after coming back from the Grocery Store on the first day

• Vivid NPCs: changed lust formula and added new variables, diligence; purity; and chastity to characters.
  • Lust: doubled girls lust gaining, but capped so it never exceeds 25% at once
  • Diligence: how efficiently/faster characters do activities. More diligent characters spend less time doing activities, while laziest ones might even get later to routine activities
  • Purity: how much their mind is pure to avoid lustful thoughts
  • Chastity: how much they worry about preserving their sexual image
  • With these variables, characters activities may differ even more, depending on conditions. A character with highest lust tend to have more lustful thoughts depending on how low is their purity, but may try to resist depending on how much chastity they have. A character who cannot resist the lust may try to masturbate if a proper private place is found (For now, it’s only available for your step-sis at her bedroom). Characters with highest diligence tend to finish their activities faster, so, you may see characters doing activities at more variable durations.
• Chores: updated the cleaning/laundry system to work with a “Chores Menu”, where you can easily clean the house or do laundry activities, no longer needing the Neighbor’s Reunion event to enable it. Your step-mom may clean the house automatically, during that, she may be passing through all house areas if available. When you are doing laundry, take your step-sis’s dirty clothes while she’s in her room to get enable a short scene. She may get stuck in the washing machine when she decides to take her clean clothes. It’s up to step-bro to help!
• New Map: Female Locker Room is now available in some conditions. Classmate girls may be seen bathing in the locker room stalls if you “accidentally” open the wrong door during a quest from Student Council
• Student Council: now you can join and leave Student Council as you wish, and ask for quests. A quest to repair a broken shower on Female Locker Room is now available, what gives you access to Female Locker Room while you have the quest. Feel free to never complete it and have unlimited access
• Hug: hug your step-mom from her back when she’s cooking
• Jog: reworked jogging art. Now you can see all your classmates during P.E classes. Also, you may randomly gain intimacy and love with multiple characters at once
• Pseudo-Fast-Travel: sleep and class actions now appear on any “sub-map”, moving you to the defined place if you’re not into. If you’re at home but not in your bedroom, the sleep button will auto move you there, and if your’re at home but not in the current class area, it auto moves you there. Classes now only happen in their defined areas
• Bug Fix: complete main questline “Day 1: Memories” when start from Day 3

Devlog

• Translation: updated translation of Portuguese; Spanish; and Italian (a big thank you to mensch, for joining the translation! )
• Vibration: made vibration optional for mobile devices. Just disable/enable it on Settings as you prefer
• Meeting: added “Meeting” option on character interaction system. It serves for you to schedule a meeting, inviting character to join you in a future event. For now, it’s only available for WSIS and WMOM, to join you in the neighbors reunion, but should be available for dating with characters
• Updated Scene: Neighbors reunion scene only occurs on Sundays, from 10:00 to 12:59. You can invite WSIS and WMOM to go with you on the Meeting options
• Complete Scene: finished sleepover scene with WSIS and WNEI. Now it can only start when you have at least 40% intimacy with both WSIS and WNEI.
• Sunrise Animation: added a neighborhood/city animation on day transition
• Image Choices: reworked visual of training in your bedroom to a more dynamic appearance, with images for most relevant choices. This system should be used more often from now on
• Progress Cap: separated and updated progress cap of WSIS, WNEI, WMOM, and general characters. WSIS and WNEI will start with a cap to 10 maximum intimacy, increasing to 40 maximum. WMOM starts with a cap to 40 maximum intimacy. Other characters may have no cap when more content with them is available
• Chores & Tasks: added a Cleaning system where you can do house chores. The more you take care of house chores, the more love you’ll get from WMOM. Dirt is generated on passing day. The cleaner the house is, less dirty it tends to get. Dirt attracts more dirt. Also, you can do homework for WSIS so she love you more. The more Performance you have, the less time you spend doing house chores. Do the tasks for WMOM and WSIS so they go with you to Neighbor’s reunion. For now, you’re the only one who can clean the house, and chores are only available during the invitation of WSIS and WMOM to Neighbor’s Reunion
• Quick Menu: Quick Menu buttons are hidden during minigames, so as not to get in the way
• Character Guide: added guide of scenes/content for WCOU, WNEI, WSIS, WMOM, and P.E Teacher (still without sprite) in characters menu

New Game With Checkpoints
Saves from previous versions shouldn’t work in this update, but you can just start a new game an keep whatever you want of content an character intimacy.
Step-sis Content
Invite your stepsis to watch movie with you after 22:00. You can chat, just watch, or watch popcorn during the movie.
Things can happen when popcorn is finished.
For that to be available, make sure you buy Corn and leave it on the fridge
No popcorn available? Don’t worry, you can just skip time until a next day comes with the new button, that you can skip any hour you want! Store items refresh every day.
After the movie, you can sleep with your step-sis and have very intimate moments with her. This content is repeatable, and from the second time you sleep with her, you have 3 additional options.

Character Mood: fixed the missing expressions on character sprites out of day 2.

School Moments: adjusted school schedules and quests of classmates to the updated time. No more long skips or time rollbacks. Classmates now have some generic pastime activities that may lead them to random places so you can find them and interact. NPCs may be in the class based on current class schedule, so if current class is P.E or swimming, they’ll head to those class maps instead of classroom. For now I’m leaving all class periods available for you at any time, just do what class you want whenever you want.

Activity Time: instead of passing necessarily 1h watching TV or cooking with WMOM, now you pass the amount of time the girl you’re with does.

Character Scenes: adjusted WSIS and WNEI content to work with their activity moments. You can see WSIS changing clothes to school

Error Screen: added “Load” button on error screen so you can choose another checkpoint.

Bug Fix: fixed a bug where minutes can be float numbers.

Pseudo-Bug Fix: NPCs aren’t sleeping at night. :v so I made you autosleep instead to avoid instabilities until I fix it.

Step-Sis-Chan!
There’s just one new scene content in this update, that actually is an update of an existing scene. You just need to do the Late Night Snack of WSIS to see it. The scene has a new beginning with minigames and a few variation routes.

Hang Out Added
WSIS is also available for afternoon hang out at school. A jogging hang out was added to WNEI as well.

Visual Update
A visual rework was made in the meeting scenes of WGAL and WGOT.

Socialization During Class
More characters are now available for social interaction during classes:

• WUZA, for common and swimming
• WGOT, for common and swimming
• HINE, for common
• HPRV, for swimming

Bug Fix
Also, a code rework was made to avoid errors that occurs after a loaded game. So, please consider reporting any problems you find if you do so I can fix it as fast as possible.

Updated Sound
Updated a few songs with the new version of Suno (4.5), and the beep voices of a few characters: HERO; WNEI; WSIS; WMOM; WCOU; WGMA; and WGAL. The idea for the beep voices is to leave it lower than the background music and to simulate natural-like voices, so less people find it annoying xD
