– Re-write in Chapters 1 and 2: Some people have complained a great deal about the setup scene (the one where Brigitte goes out to confront the guard and is expelled). Their main complaint is that it is preposterous. I have been quiet about this, because my response is this: of course it’s preposterous. But it has always been preposterous! Royal Switch is based on a children’s book published in 1882. For the most part, RS is loosely based on that story. But this one scene is the one most directly lifted from the source. Seriously, it is almost beat-for-beat. My feeling has always been this: if you don’t like this scene, you should complain to Mark Twain. Last I checked, he’s in Elmira, NY. I’m pretty sure he’s still there.
Anyway, I got tired of hearing about it, so I rewrote it. If you have played before and want to see it, you can go back and play Chapters 1 and 2. The setup is still somewhat preposterous (of course it is), but it puts Brigitte in a better light and sets up the personality of Francis the Guard more fully.

• Re-shot some scenes from Chapter 1 to make them look better.
• Did a slight rework of Bernadette/Hannah’s character model to fix a weird issue with their eyes and give them a little bit more family resemblance to Esther. Replaced all their sprites with the updated model.
• Brigitte gets to know her host a bit better and meets some of the villagers.
• Esther settles into her new lifestyle and explores her favorite fetish.
• Bernadette and He’Thar meet, and find some common ground.
• Emmaline meets the girls and Cassandra has an announcement.

This release includes Act 1 of Chapter 4. Our heroes are at or near the end of their training. What will happen next?
Brigitte has gained her freedom, but can she keep it? Will she get back to the palace so she can take up her rightful place as the Crown Princess?
Esther (“Fearless” route) has a spy mission, and she has developed a plan to rescue Brigitte! She may find, however, that things do not always go as planned.
Esther (“Angry” route-fka “Timid” route) has returned to the spy program. This time, however, it is under her own terms. Will she complete the program and finally take charge of her life?

Version 0.13.1 Maintenance and Repair
I found someone willing to do a deep proofreading of the whole story! Thanks to TheDevian at Svengali Productions!
Fixed multiple (so many!) typos, punctuation errors, and render errors.
Fixed the bug that allowed actions on the “stats” screen to affect the main game.
I think I found a solution to the bug that crashes back to the title screen when you roll back over an animation. Now, after an animation, you can’t roll back. Not an elegant solution, but it seems to avoid the crash!
Fixed (I think) a bug that allowed animation buttons to stay on screen when skipping. Skipping now stops at animations.
Finally removed the false choice regarding whether Brigitte will accept Siobhan’s offer to try training.
Added some more choices to Siobhan’s training scenes.
Changed the title of Brigitte’s “Bratty” path to “Willful”
Changed some scenes (particularly in Act 7) to reflect that change.
Maybe more? Probably more. This was a much-needed maintenance update.

Version 0.12 A Fine Meal
–A small rewrite to Chapter 3, Act 2, Esther’s Story, in which we are introduced to Tristan, Titus’ nephew. Esther will see Tristan again in Chapter 4 (or sooner, depending on her story path).
–Added more content to the Esther “timid” scenes in Act 7 to make that storyline feel less abrupt and more complete.
–Brigitte is faced with a stark choice: does she continue to put up with Bruno’s humiliations, or does she try to manipulate him so she can make her escape?
–Her friends are making plans as well…and Iris meets Osprey for the first time.
–Bruno finally pushes it too far. What will that mean for our Princess?
–Meanwhile, back at the palace, Creighton is looking for ways to take advantage of this whole mess, King Herold worries, and Esther hears some sad news.
–Inserted the fighting game into Acts 6 and 7. I might have bitten off more than I could chew with this one. As it is, this is a very simple game, but it does allow Esther to increase her fighting stats.
–Stats: 6,329 words of dialogue; 473+ new images.

v0.10.2
of Royal Switch is a bug fix release, which fixes an error that created a crash when a certain achievement was earned. This integrates the v. 0.10.1 Hotfix, so if you already have that, you don’t need this one.

Added option in the “Preferences” menu, so that players can change the dialogue and menu fonts.

Fixed some reported bugs (many of these fixes were included in the earlier hotfix).

Edited some dialogue from earlier scenes, in particular the “Siobhan’s Offer” scenes.

Removed “refuse first, then accept” pathway for the “Feed Bruno” task. This should fix the last of the scenes where a bratty response will loop back so that the reader must eventually do the task.
